The half light visions

“The half light visions” includes in a unique suite the tracks made between September 2013 and June 2014 for the Soundcloud – “Extrospection – The sound of images” group, created on the initiative of Mr. Paolo Mascolini. To him the Swiss artist Desh Alb wishes to give a particular appreciation for that great opportunity. Basically, the important inspiration to this second album in batenim netlabel has been, time by time, historical events and tragedies (Ernest Henry Shackleton and the Endurance tragedy), paint craft (Hieronymus Bosch, Caspar D. Friedrich), poetry compositions (Alfred Tennyson), as well as modern catastrophe (the Chernobyl disaster) and natural landscape (the Grand Canyon), and more. The project is made up of a full 60 minutes, 10 electronic “soundscapes” (plus 1 bonus track) which play on without interruption, as a single trip along an imaginary path without ending, deep into infinity, upon a gloomy valley. A visionary route where the music naturally takes on different colours, without rules, across genres and styles. Mostly they are dark sounds, extremely rough and lumbering, which suddenly give way to romantic and more intimate moments to explore, but always covered with a melancholic veil. Therefore a contrasting music, where different atmospheres find their natural expression, like the inhuman robotic reading placed over the romantic sadness evoked by Tennyson’s poetry. It’s an articulated soundtrack, an emotional theme which breaks any barrier of space and time. It’s a discovery of the macrocosm and microcosm which characterise the human dimension at the same time. Through the images shown, the listener lives an experience inside a dreamlike world, which exists autonomously and offers a new and exciting journey every time.

“The half light visions” raccoglie in unica suite, le tracce realizzate tra settembre 2013 e giugno 2014, per il gruppo “Extrospection – The sound of images” fortemente voluto da Paolo Mascolini a cui va il ringraziamento dell’artista per questa stimolante opportunità. Fonte d’ispirazione di queste composizioni dell’artista svizzero Desh Alb al suo secondo Album in batenim netlabel, sono stati di volta in volta, eventi e tragedie storiche (Ernest Henry Shackleton e la tragedia dell’ Endurance), opere pittoriche (Hieronymus Bosch, Caspar D. Friedrich), la poesia (Alfred Tennyson), l’attualità (Chernobyl ed il nucleare), la natura (Grand Canyon), e molto altro ancora. Protagonisti di questi quasi 60 minuti, sono 10 soundscapes elettronici (più un traccia inedita) che si susseguono senza interruzione, lungo un immaginario sentiero che sfuma nell’infinito, adagiato sul fondo di in un’oscura valle. Un percorso visionario, dove la musica spazia senza regole, attraverso vari stili e generi. Spesso sono sonorità oscure, estreme ed ingombranti, contrapposte a momenti intimi e romantici, sempre velati di dramma. Musica di contrasti quindi, dove trovano spazio ad esempio, il freddo reading robotico in “The Lady of Shallott” in estremo contrasto con l’atmosfera tristemente romantica evocata dalla poesia di Tennyson. È quindi una colonna sonora, che conduce l’ascoltatore attraverso un viaggio emozionale/temporale, senza confini di spazio e tempo. Un volo nel cosmo e micro cosmo umano, all’interno di un mondo onirico e visionario scaturito dalle immagini suggerite, ma che funziona perfettamente anche scollegato dal conteso originale ed in maniera del tutto autonoma, raccontando viaggi diversi ogni volta.
